The Role of the
Bohls Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO)
The objectives of the Bohls PTO are to:
​·â€‹Establish and maintain a working relationship among parents, school and community.
​·â€‹Support school improvement teams and promote the finest education possible for the students at Bohls Middle School.
​·â€‹Expand technology and supplement equipment and supplies.
​·â€‹Increase student safety and security.
·â€‹Increase student anti-bullying programs, character building, and mental health services.
​·â€‹Develop programs and projects that will support or enrich the curriculum.
​·â€‹Enhance the quality of education by raising funds for school supplies or programs that fall outside the school budget.
The PTO Does NOT
·â€‹Run the school
·â€‹Force parents to participate in PTO and/or school activities
·â€‹Set policy regarding school programs
·â€‹Define the school’s curriculum
·â€‹Dictate the technology platforms and/or software used by the school
·â€‹Define or interfere with the school’s security program and policies
·â€‹Control the school’s budget
·â€‹Set the educational goals, testing requirements, or compliance factors
·â€‹Have jurisdiction or authority over school staff, teachers, and other employees
·â€‹Endorse a particular political candidate or commercial concern

The PTO DOES
·â€‹Support the educational programs and extracurricular activities of the school
·â€‹Encourage parents’ involvement in their individual children’s lives, education, class, and school
·â€‹Provide feedback and suggestions for school programs, including mental health support
·â€‹Coordinate programs and projects that will support or enrich the curriculum
·â€‹Encourage/fund the increased exposure of student character, and anti-bullying programs
·â€‹Provide feedback/assist with increased awareness of school safety and security issues
·â€‹Organize fundraising efforts to support some additional programs, equipment, and services not covered in the school budget
·â€‹Support the educational goals of the school and assist with attaining those goals through parent and community volunteerism
·â€‹Recruit volunteers and coordinate volunteer efforts to staff PTO functions and assist with school programs
·â€‹Stay aware of legislation and political issues that may impact education and schools
